Obecni urad Dlouhomilov


The village of Dlouhomilov lies about 6 km south of Šumperk at an altitude of approx. 334 m in the valley of the Loučka, Dražník and Benkovský brook streams. From the north side the village is surrounded by Bašta hill, from the east side by Skalka and from the south by Šebená. Part of the village since 1960 and the local part of Benkov, located about 3 km southeast of Dlouhomilov at an altitude of about 390 m.
The area in the locality where Dlouhomilov is located has been inhabited for at least 3000 years BC. It is evidenced by the local finding of a stone ax from the early Stone Age. In written sources, however, the first mention of the village from 1356.
The village was typically an agricultural and fruit-growing locality, which is also reflected in the symbolism on the municipal emblem - two crossed prickled spades between two five-petalled apple blossoms.
The dominant feature of the village is the Church of All Saints from the second half of the 17th century with the surrounding cemetery and the statue of St. John of Nepomuk from 1839. In the upper part of the village there are several historical buildings - farms, which are protected and therefore the entire upper part of the village was declared a monument zone.
A total of 480 inhabitants lived in the village of Dlouhomilov and Benkov as of 1 January 2011.
There is a post office, grocery store, hospitality, library, municipal club and falconry.
The events in the village are taken care of by voluntary civic associations, namely the Volunteer Fire Brigade, T.J. Sokol and Hunting Association.
