Bystrovany village lies in the plain below the last tip of the Jeseníky Mountains on both banks of the Bystřice River, about 6 km east
from the regional capital Olomouc.
Its meaning is given by character and position
in relation to the natural environment,
surrounding villages and excellent transport accessibility.
According to the first written document from
1277 the village was the property of the monastery
Hradisko. In 1975, affiliation took place
municipality to the city of Olomouc. Since January 1, 1993, a majority of citizens voted in a referendum in the independence of Bystrovany.
