The village of Sloupno is located in the Havlíčkův Brod district in the Vysočina region. The village lies in a valley around a stream in a mountainous landscape. The village is first mentioned in the 16th century and then it belonged to the goods in Studenec.

Sloupné was a village that belonged to the Studene estate until 1848. With the establishment of self-government in 1848, it became an independent village, which in 1895 had 18 houses with 126 inhabitants. There was no rectory here, they went to church in Libice, there was a post office in Horní Studenec, other self-governing and state offices and courts were only in Chotěboř. Ten years later (1910), according to the census, the population of the village increased slightly to 161 in 26 buildings. This increasing demographic trend continued throughout the first half of the 20th century. Today there are only 38 permanent residents.
