The village of Oucmanice is a small village located in the district of Ústí nad Orlicí and has about 242 inhabitants.
Oucmanice was created during colonization in the 13th century, when the Czech lands opened up widely to news from the more advanced West. The right of purchase came to the Przemysl lands, i.e. vassal hereditary possession of land, which was associated with the obligation to pay a feudal rent. Urban planning, innovations in agriculture and craft technology spread. Settlement of inhabitants by intermediaries, or locators, in hitherto uninhabited places was done either on the initiative of the monarch, or the settlement was taken up by wealthier church institutions, and a little later by more powerful lords. Settlement was a very demanding matter and had to fulfill several conditions. The most basic ones include ensuring the livelihood of the settlers and mutual communication between individual places. Some literature states that a certain German colonist Walczman came to the places of today's Oucmanice, who became the aforementioned locator. It can be assumed that he was commissioned by the monarch.
The village of Oucmanice was first mentioned in writing in 1292 as "villa Valczmanni". They are one of the seventeen villages founded during the first phase of colonization of our territory, which is evidenced by the name of the village, where its origin is explained as the Valcman people. The shape of Valcmanice is preserved in the sources until the end of the 16th century. From the second half of the 17th century, Aucmanice appears (in various graphic forms, etc.). In the second half of the 19th century, it becomes Úcmanice and Oucmanice.
In the village you will find a library, a general store, a pub, a municipal office and the Paleta eco-centre, which deals with ecological education with a special emphasis on children and youth.
There are the following associations - Senior Citizens' Club, SDH Oucmanice, Ladies' Club, Society of Folk Traditions in Oucmanice, Association of Friends of the Chapel in Oucmanice.
