The village of Stožice is located in the northwestern part of the South Bohemian Region, in the district of Strakonice, about 3 km southwest of the town of Vodňany, at an altitude of 441 meters. The first written mention of the village dates from 1416. The neo-Gothic chapel of S. Šimon and Judy decorates the courtyard. The village is the birthplace of the writer Josef Holeček, whose birth house no. 7 is reminded by a commemorative plaque and the inscription "U Holečků".

The municipality of Stožice is part of the Association of Municipalities of the Blanicko-Otava microregion.

The village is divided into three local parts:
Stožice, Křepice and Libějovické Svobodné Hory.

Official cycle path No. 1075 and several local cycle paths, the Stožice educational trail and other routes suitable for walking pass through the village.

The village has basic civic amenities given its size.

There is a regular bus line from Vodňany to the village.
