The town of the KAHAN microregion.

The oldest history and the first written mentions
-settion inhabited as early as the 6th - 5th millennium BC, ie in the Late Stone Age and the Neolithic (finds of chipped and polished stone tools, shards and whorls)
-first mentions of the village from November 26, 1048 - deed of gift by which Prince Břetislav I. donates property
(also Domašovský statek, to which Ostrovačice belonged) to the newly founded monastery of the Břevnov Benedictines in Rajhrad (falsum from the 13th century)
-first authentic written mention of the village and parish - document from November 6, 1255 - the right to occupy the island parish
-9. September 1842 - the Austrian Emperor Ferdinand V. allowed the organization of four annual markets a year, and thus promoted Ostrovačice to a town
-10. October 2006 - on the basis of an amendment to the Act on Municipalities, the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic designated Ostrovačice as a township again.

Cultural monuments:
-church of St. Wenceslas and St. John the Baptist - the foundations of the presbytery from 12-13. century
-fara with a prelature from the end of the 17th century
-boundary stone of the Rajhrad estate from 1735
-Statue of St. Jan Nepomucký from 1766
-memorial stone for the explosion of gunpowder from 1793
-memorial to Emilie Dočkalová-Topinková - "Helenka" from Vilém Mrštík's novel The Fairy Tale of May (at the local cemetery).

Natural monuments:
-jirovec - the oldest chestnut tree in the district. Brno-venkov (private park under the square, there is also a mature black pine)
-Natural park Podkomorské lesy
-linden tree in the yard of the primary school (age about 150 years).
