The first written mention of the village dates from 1237.
Among the important monuments is the Church of the Names of the Virgin Mary - since July 1, 2008, it has been registered among the National Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic. Others include the Křtiny Arboretum - a collection of trees from around the world founded by August Bayer and a castle.
