The town of Kopřivnice.
Kopřivnice, the town of "cars", is surrounded by the picturesque nature of the Beskydy Mountains, the landscape of forests, castles and also the stories of famous people.
The names of many world-famous personalities are associated with the city and its surroundings, including, for example, the Olympic runner Emil Zátopek with his wife, a painter and
illustrator Zdenek Burian and others.
Kopřivnice is also popular for sports, cultural and recreational activities.
The first written mention is in the mortgage deed of Emperor Sigismund of Luxembourg from 1437, but the time of its establishment
we assume at the end of the 13th century.
However, this does not mean that there was no older settlement. The settlement of the people of the garbage fields from the end of the late Bronze Age at the so-called "Šutyrovy studánka" on the slope was proved
Red stone.
The beginnings of the fame of Kopřivnice and the Tatra plant date back to 1850, when the saddler Ignác Šustala started the artisanal production of carriages, later luxury carriages, in the "Fojtství" building. The workshop grew into a factory, in 1882 the company Šustala a spol. introduced the production of wagons and in 1897 the first automobile was built in the Kopřivnice wagon in
then-Austria-Hungary, the famous "President", who founded the glory of Kopřivnice cars.
Today, Tatra trucks are manufactured here, which have won leading positions in world competitions, especially in the Paris - Dakar plants.
In 1910, Kopřivnice became a town and in 1948 it was promoted to a town.
The town of Kopřivnice consists of four parts, the town itself and three adjacent villages - Lubina, Vlčovice, Mniší.
Průmyslová Kopřivnice is closely connected with Štramberk by buildings, which creates the impression of a double city.
