History of a family business
The company Kamenosochařství Holanec Opočno was founded in Opočno in 1933 by the trained sculptor Josef Holanec. He built a family house with a workshop, which he expanded in 1939, equipped with a cutter for cutting granite blocks and two grinding arms. He died in August of that year at the age of 33. The operation was further managed by the founder's wife and later the founder's brother until 1951, when the establishment was nationalized and incorporated into the Municipal Services. In January 1991, the establishment was returned to the founder's son Josef Holanc as part of restitution, who reconstructed, rebuilt and rebuilt equipped with a new saw for cutting stone and an automatic machine for polishing the sides of stone slabs.
In 2010 he handed over the workshop to his son Ing. Aleš Holanc. At present, the plant is equipped with a bridge saw for cutting stone, three grinding arms, an automatic machine for polishing the surfaces of stone slabs, an automatic machine for polishing the sides of stone slabs, a truck with a hydraulic arm, the same vehicle with a tipping device and a mini excavator. Three forklifts are used for material handling. The establishment was expanded with storage space in the hall of a nearby brickyard.
Today, the company of the founder Josef Holanec works together with his son Ing. Aleš Holanc. There are 6 stable employees who work in the craft practically all their lives. Thanks to our many years of experience in this field, we can offer a complete service and advice on work with natural stone and terrazzo.
Focus
We perform all sculptural work with a focus mainly on cemetery architecture, but also on building stone elements, such as stairs, window sills, kitchen countertops, tiles, paving, fireplaces, tables. Our next activity is the production of grilling (lava) stones. Among other things, we also offer excavation work and road transport.
Materials and suppliers
We use quality Czech as well as foreign materials for our stone production. In addition to traditional materials such as natural granite, marble and sandstone, we also produce from exotic materials or artificial terrazzo stone. In the material swatches tab, you will find the types of stone that we mainly use for production. The main supplier of material from all over the world is the company DEKSTONE®, which has a consignment warehouse at the premises.
