The first written documents about Lomná date back to 1596. Until 1899, Dolní Lomná and Horní Lomná formed one common village - Lomná. According to the law of 27 December 1899, Lomná was divided into two separate municipalities from 1 January 1900. The village of Dolní Lomná with an area of 2, 703 ha and a population of 874 is located in the picturesque valley of the Těšín Beskydy on the border of neighboring Poland and Slovakia.
The village of Dolní Lomná is located in the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area. In a wide valley through which the Lomná river flows, the village is closed by wooded slopes on all sides. It is protected from the north by the broad ridge of Kozubová, on the south side by the peak of Skalka and Velký Polom.
Now the village has 874 inhabitants and an area of 2, 703 hectares.
