Obec Skalicka

Skalicka 109, Skalicka 753 52
Skalička originally bore the name Skalka. The first written record of Skalička dates back to 1328, in which it is written that Skalička is a mansion of Olomouc bishops. Since the 16th century, when there was already a wooden chateau in Skalička, the owners changed quite often. At the beginning of the 19th century the reconstruction of the wooden chateau into a brick building began. In 1878 the chateau was bought by the Olomouc Archbishopric, which used it as its summer residence. The purchase contract was signed with the Archbishopric on November 14, 1924, according to which the castle falls to the sisters of the Cyril-Methodius Society.

Thus the chateau became the Cyril-Methodius Institute, which was intended for epileptic children. In 1930 the chateau became the property of the Congregation of the Sisters of Cyril-Methodius.

In 1949, a new administrative management of all charitable institutions in Prague was created. The charitable care of all ecclesiastical organizations was managed by the State Office for Ecclesiastical Affairs, which fell under the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare.

In 1956, the Institute was renamed the "Children's Nursing Institute of the Czech Catholic Caritas". From January 1, 1960, the institute fell under state administration and was managed by the District National Committee. The facility has been renamed “The Institute of Social Care for Children and Youth”. In 1988, the last nun left, and since then only civilian employees have been working in the facility. In 1997, the last name was changed to "Social Care Institute for Youth and Adults".
