The village of Mikulůvka lies in a picturesque valley at the eastern foot of the Hostýn Hills. A stream of the same name flows through the village, which flows into Vsetínská Bečva. The total area of 1269 hectares is largely made up of forests. The altitude in the center of the village is around 340 m.a.s.l.

Administratively, Mikulůvka falls into the Zlín Region. It used to belong to Valašské Meziříčí, later it became part of the Vsetín district. As of 1 January 2019, there were 801 inhabitants, approximately half of whom were of working age. The average age was 39.87 years. There were also 334 houses with a descriptive number and 26 objects with a registration number.

Several companies and tradespeople operate in the village, but most residents commute to work in Vsetín and Valašské Meziříčí.

The village has a municipal office, a library, a kindergarten, the first grade of a primary school, a restaurant, a supermarket, a bakery, seasonal refreshments, a sports hall, a children's playground and a football field.

The village is connected to a gas pipeline, sewage system and public water supply fed from the Stanovnice water reservoir.

In the summer months, a heated swimming pool is in operation. Other tourist attractions include a wooden bell tower and a water mill.
