Mošnov village (680 inhabitants) is located about 20 km southwest of Ostrava. From historical data it is clear that in the wide area of this region in the 11th and 12th century was spreading border forest. It advanced in the 13th century
colonization from the Polish and Czech side up to the Ostravice river. The territory of today's village belonged to the Hukvaldy estate, to which it belonged
dominated by a huge castle built around 1235.
The village of Mošnov was established on the right bank of the Lubina River, on the left side the Mošnovec settlement. In their vicinity, the German colonizers founded the settlement Engeswald. Later everything
merged into one municipality.
The first evidence of the village Mošnov is from 1367.Tehdy it was the largest village in the Nová Horka estate. Progressing
German colonization, wars and epidemics, the number of Czech inhabitants decreased and according to data from 1939
there were 923 inhabitants in Mosnov, 41 of them Czechs.
In the past, the dominant of the village was the church. It was also built in Mošnov in 1806-1807 and consecrated to St. Margaret.
After the end of World War II, the village began to change. The German majority was relegated and Czechs from various regions of the country moved to the village. A great contribution to the development of Mošnov became the construction of the airport in the years 1955-1960, which was used in part as a civil, but mostly
served for military purposes. In 1993, military units were taken from the airport and the whole area is except
air transport used for commercial and business purposes.
