Lhotka near Ostrava was probably founded during the period of peak colonization at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries, as its name suggests. The first colonists of this village received benefits from their owner in the form of "lhot".
The first documented written report on its existence dates back to 1464. After the liberation in 1645, Lhotka recorded further economic and social development, which is documented by the 1961 census, according to which 1, 059 inhabitants (1947 - 972) lived in 224 residential areas. The social group of workers included 833 persons, agricultural cooperatives 36 and other employees 171.
At the beginning of the 1950s, OKD played a significant role in the construction industry by building a housing estate of so-called Finnish houses. The collective farm was established here as early as 1949. In 1961, it merged with the Petřkovice collective farm under the name JZD Horník with its registered office in Lhotka.
The school was built here in 1842, which was attended by children from Bobrovníky until 1882. The kindergarten was founded in 1949. The chapel was built in 1889. The population of the district on 31.3.20010 is 1187.
