Obecni urad Bludov

Bludov Municipal Office.
Bludov has been a relatively large and purely Czech village since its inception. The original settlement spread from the upper end (today a monument zone), where its oldest part was, down the stream. In the 16th century there were already 75 settlements and the number of inhabitants steadily increased. In 1834, Bludov had 318 houses and 2070 inhabitants and in 1950 585 houses and 2485 inhabitants. This trend has not stopped to this day and so today Bludov has more than 3000 inhabitants.

In the 19th century Bludov was the center of Czech national life in the Šumperk region. In 1908, the first Czech secondary school in the Šumperk district was opened here. Gradually, Bludov also changed from agricultural to agro-industrial. In 1929, Zdeněk Pospíšil, a landowner from Chromec, founded the local spa, which still exists today. The promising development of the village during the First Republic was interrupted by Munich, when this purely Czech village was annexed to the empire and especially the World War II, which claimed many victims from the ranks of the Bludov citizens.

After the liberation of May 8, 1945, there was a short period of freedom, ending in the events of February 1948. Fortunately, Bludov resisted the centralization efforts to merge with the town of Šumperk. The period of more than forty years has had a negative impact on the external appearance of the municipality, as well as on the relationship of citizens to their municipality and to each other. The events of 1989 marked a fundamental change in the life of our community connected with the renewal of the municipality's self-government, the correction of past injustices, including property. The environment has improved significantly thanks to gasification. Repairs have seen some of the hereditary monuments, the school canteen with gymnasium was completed, Sokolovna was repaired. Newly built water supply and repaired many roads. On the threshold of the new millennium, Bludov and its inhabitants face many other challenges that will need to be solved to become a true home and a place to be proud of.
