Obec Ceske Mezirici

The village of České Meziříčí lies on the border of the Hradec Králové, Rychnov and Náchod districts. The village is located in a rolling plain below the Eagle Mountains between the rivers Labem, Metují and Orlice. Hence the name Meziříčí. The village itself lies on the river Dědina (according to the new corrected name), into which the Zlatý potok, flowing from Opočno, flows.

Our ancestors began to build their own village in a swampy and wooded landscape at the end of the 13th century at the ford across the Zlatý potok on a branch of the important Kladsko-Polish country trail, leading to Opočen Castle and further to the market settlement of Leštná (today's Dobruška).

Among the monuments is the church of St. Catherine, the statue of the Immaculate Conception (P. Marie) and the statue of St. Jan Nepomucký.

The village is the birthplace of a number of prominent personalities, such as the rebellious farmer Jakub Němeček, whose house has been preserved to this day, or the Bishop of Hradec Králové, Karel Otčenášek, and others.

At present, the village of České Meziříčí has 1960 inhabitants. Here you will find various associations - Retired from Dědina, a civic association, the Hunting Association of České Meziříčí, the Volunteer Fire Brigade, the Czech Association of Beekeepers.
