Obec Pribraz

The village of Příbraz is located in the district of Jindřichův Hradec. The oldest mention of the village comes from 1518, but the village is much older. The original name was Příběraz = Priberadův dvůr. The whole area was colonized at the end of the 12th century at the end of the Přemyslid rule.

Příbraz is a municipality with a relatively high share of historically and architecturally valuable buildings in the total volume of the building stock. This obvious fact led to the declaration of the village as a village monument zone on the basis of a detailed architectural and historical survey prepared in 1985, which is archived at the Monument Institute in České Budějovice.

The village lies in a flat and swampy landscape, in a tourist-attractive area and is of a medieval foundation, originally with an elongated square, during the 18th and 19th centuries. partially built up. The basic parcel included 14 large homesteads. The development of the village is very diverse in terms of age, type and extent of individual homesteads. These are fully brick buildings, which completely replaced the original wooden buildings during the 19th century. The most distinctive solitary type here is the triangular, e.g. a three-sided or parallel homestead with Štítová orientation, which, however, disappears in an almost chaotic but picturesque small cottage development. The current monumental value of the village therefore lies more in the number of partial picturesque nooks and a number of small, architecturally complete parts of a high aesthetic level.
