In 1864, when miners were extracting ore at a depth of half a kilometer, a strong spring of water gushed out at the Svornost mine, which gradually flooded the shaft. For decades, no one knew that it would be she who, after the discovery of the Curie couple, would make Jáchymov famous as a spa town. We have been talking about spas since 1906.
In 1911, the first spa building was opened, into which healing water was brought from the mine through several kilometers of pipes. The very good healing effects led to the decision to build the spa hotel Radium Kurhaus - today's Radium Palace, which was opened in 1912.
Joint-stock company Léčebné lázně Jáchymov has been in existence since 1992, and it is only a fraction of the time against the almost century-old history of the spa in Jáchymov and against the several centuries for which the healing effect of radon water on the human body has been known.
