Obec Benov


The village of Beňov is situated in the Olomouc Region approximately 6 km southeast of the industrial town Přerov. The village is situated on the left bank of the brook Moštěnky in the undulating countryside of the foothills of the Podbeskydská pahorkatina.

The first record of Ben
The first historical record of the village dates back to 1365.
The name of the village allegedly originated from the personal pronoun byn, the bearer of which is mentioned as a witness already on one document from 1130. Furthermore, as the castle "DE BINON" then in documents from 1318 and 1322, then in the Earth records of 1365 record of the village as BÍNOV and Czech documents as BEYNOW.
The record, which also relates to the village Beňov is an abandoned village Běškovice or Běšovice north of the village Beňov on the track Běškovska. This village had the same history as the village Beňov and also the same nobility. The demise of the village is linked to the time of the Husic campaigns and wars. The land was affiliated to Beňov, whose inhabitants gave a certain fee for their use

In 1564, during the time of Vratislav of Perštýn, the salaries from the "Běškov region" were especially counted, and the Běškov region was divided into 28 identical counterfeits and the then Bískovský court into 28 districts.

Further to the history of the water mill in Beňov, there was found a millstone with the date "ANNO 1226" it is probably the foundation of this building.

In 1964, Beňov merged with the small village of Prussia, which has since been its local part. Prusy village is located 1 km northeast of Beňov. The village of Beňov has 213 descriptive numbers and 610 inhabitants. Prusy has 29 house numbers and 70 inhabitants.

Culture and events in the village
In the village from time to time held a spectacular traditional event Felling May, which always attracts many visitors. The main part is the procession of masks, which are the work of the citizens themselves. Other cultural events take place during the year, such as the annual welcoming of citizens, discussions with seniors, tours, theater performances, Christmas parties, balls, etc.

Sport
The village also allows sports. There are tennis courts built and for horse lovers there is a riding club. However, the most attractive sport for citizens is football, which is played on the local playground.

Infrastructure
In the village is introduced electrification and gas. This enables an environmentally friendly way of heating. The village has a cable TV with a local cable channel, which informs citizens about local news and events. Internet is now commonplace - the village is covered by wireless signal (WiFi) to connect to the Internet (provided by a private company).
