The village of Slatina nad Úpou has always belonged to the larger agricultural villages in the northwestern part of the Náchod district. The village is located in a basin about 2 km long, with a slope to the wooded valley through which the river Upa flows. At an altitude of between 360 and 400 m, it belongs to the foothills of the Giant Mountains. The name Slatina speaks of its foundation in places where "slatina" used to be - a swampy place, a mudflat, ie not very fertile soil. Regionally, Slatina nad Úpou was included in two associations of municipalities, namely the DSO 1866 and the Úpa micro-region. The village includes two solitudes - Končiny and Boušín. The whole village has 251 descriptive numbers, half of which are permanently inhabited and the others are used for recreation.

Due to the proximity of Ratibořice-Babiččina údolí and for some interesting cultural monuments directly in the village, there is a relatively rich tourist activity. Two cycling routes and the Justynčina stezka pedestrian circuit lead through the village, everything is well marked with tourist signs.

Three social associations mainly participate in the social and cultural life of the village, namely the Boušín Hunting Association, the basic organization of the Gardeners' Union and the local Volunteer Fire Brigade.

In addition to the offices and the meeting room, the Municipal Office building houses a well-stocked and used municipal library, a fire station and a small grocery store.

The municipal office can be found at Slatina nad Úpou 65, district Náchod.
