Applied research and testing is an important part of agricultural research, which deals with the development and verification of new varieties of cereals, technologies and plant protection products. Applied genetic-breeding research is focused on improving the genetic potential of plant species for various growing conditions and market requirements. The Kroměříž Agricultural Research Institute (ZVÚK) is a leading workplace in this area in the Czech Republic.

ZVÚK conducts accredited tests of plant protection products in accordance with valid legal regulations and international standards. These tests are used to evaluate the effectiveness, safety and environmental impact of these products. ZVÚK also provides expert advice and consultations in the field of plant protection and breeding.

Cooperation is ongoing with a number of domestic and foreign partners from academia, state administration, the private sector and non-profit organizations. ZVÚK is a member of the Association of Agricultural Research Institutions (AZVI) and the European Organization for Research and Testing in Plant Protection (EPPO).
