The Komárov district is located southeast of the city center, on the right bank of the Opava River. The first written mention of its existence comes from 1330. Komárov was an independent municipality until 1975, then it was annexed to the town of Opava as its part of the city. As of January 1, 2007, it had a population of 1, 409. The busy road I / 11 from Ostrava to Opava passes through the center of the city district, the railway line No. 316 Opava-východ - Ostrava-Svinov passes around the northern edge of the city district, the railway station was reconstructed as part of the electrification of the line. Among other things, two public bus lines have been introduced to Komárov, which are provided by the Opava Municipal Transport Company.
