Obec Kyjov

Kyjov 19, Kyjov 592 14
The village of Kyjov is located in the southern part of the Žďár nad Sázavou district, in the Vysočina region. It is located on the ridge of the Arnolecky Mountains below the Kyjov peak, which rises to a height of 702 m above sea level. At present, Kyjov has 26 descriptive numbers, only 15 are permanently inhabited and the others are used for recreational purposes. In the past, the village of Kyjov used to be part of Bohdalov and it was not until 1920 that it became independent.
The first written mention of the village of Kyjov dates from 1407. From historical sources, we also believe that the name Kyjov probably originated from the shouts of hunters with a club, which they called when hunting game in the surrounding forests.
The dominant feature of the village is a small chapel, which was built by the local natives in 1874 and which was completely repaired by the village of Kyjov on the sixth anniversary of its founding. The chapel stands on the square in honor of the Virgin Mary of the Rosary and every year on the first Sunday in October, a pilgrimage is celebrated here.
