Obec Hostejov

cp. 3, Hostejov 687 41
The village of Hostějov is located in the district of Uherské Hradiště in the Zlín Region and ranks among the municipalities in the Czech Republic with the lowest number of inhabitants.

According to legend, the foundation of the village dates back to the Cyril and Methodius period. On the site of today's Hostějov, the priests founded the monastery of St. Klimenta inn for pilgrims who traveled along the old road to Velehrad and to Pomerania, and that is where the name of the village came from. One of the first written mentions of the village is from 1371.

Currently, Hostějov has 46 permanent residents.

The most important monument of the small village is the belfry from 1866. Previously, a wooden belfry with a bell consecrated in 1727 stood on this site.

The village has a municipal office, a library and also a volunteer fire department.

Hostějov, located in a beautiful undulating landscape at the foot of Chřibů and its surroundings, is suitable for walking and cycling.
