The village of Bulhary is located approximately 8 km east of Mikulov.
The settlement itself was founded sometime in the 12th century by German colonists, the first written report comes from 1244 when it belonged to the Lednice estate.
In the vicinity of the village there is an important archaeological site of mammoth hunters.

Sights:
- The Church of St. Giles from 1582, later modified in the Baroque style. The tower is from 1773
-baroque entrance gate of the cemetery and mortuary from the end of the 18th century.

Attractions:
-Bulgarian nature reserve - vast oak forest with deer and fallow deer breeding. Location of the hornbill, wood hawk and rare species of butterflies
- Lake Mahen - blind arm of the Dyje, aquatic and wetland flora
-Penenský mill - a mill on the way to Milovice.
