Chrudim is a medium-sized town, also known as "Athens of East Bohemia", located on the border of the Iron Mountains and the Elbe Lowlands in the Pardubice Region. The Chrudimka River flows through the town and springs in the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area. The first documents on the settlement of the city are documented by archaeological materials from the turn of the 5th - 4th century. Chrudim currently has 23 151 inhabitants and is the second largest city in the Pardubice Region.
