The village of Deštné in the Eagle Mountains is the most visited center for tourism, recreation and winter sports in the Eagle Mountains. It was founded before 1350 during the reign of Charles IV. and lies in the Deštenská Pahorkatina at an average height of 650 m above sea level. in the magical valley of the Bělá river and the Deštenské stream. The oldest written document dates from 1362. Currently, the village has approx. 556 inhabitants.
There are many hiking trails in the vicinity of the Orlické hory protected area, not only for pedestrians or cyclists, but in the winter you will also find trails for cross-country skiers. The highest peak of the Eagle Mountains is Velká Deštná with its 1115 m, where there is also an observation tower, the average altitude is 789 m. In the Eagle Mountains you will find several ski areas and a number of accommodation and catering facilities.
