The village of Lukavec u Hořice and its two settlements, which are called Dobeš and Černín, lie in the basin between Chlumy, Zvičina, Vřesnické Valy and Hůra nad Bělohradem.
It is surrounded by forests on three sides. To the east of the village is Krušina hill (376 m above sea level), where there used to be an old castle.
A fortress stood in Dobša, whose protective circular moats are still visible today.
A large number of wooden cottages have been preserved throughout the village, half of which are used for recreational purposes.
