The village was first mentioned in 1376. In the years 1547 - 1550, a Renaissance castle was built here, later modified in the Baroque style. It became part of the castle park in the 19th century. and the rock canyon of the Robečské potok called Peklo, today a national natural monument (abundant occurrence of spring sedge), the Valdštejnská linden alley (300 years old) leading to one of the oldest pheasant pens in Bohemia, today with breeding of bezoar goats and mouflons.
The castle burned down in January 2003.
