The town of Hora Svaté Kateřiny is situated in the district of Most in the Czech part of the Ore Mountains near the Saxon border. The history of the town is closely connected with mining of ores, especially copper and silver. Since 1528, St. Catherine's Mountain was a free mining town. Currently, the city has an area of 1845 hectares and has 453 permanent residents.
