The town of Abertamy is located in the Karlovy Vary region, on the ridge of the Ore Mountains, near the German border. Our town has a rich mining history, silver was mined here, the mining of which fell during the Thirty Years' War, tin mining remained, and Marie Curie-Skłodowska's research on the local pitch (Uraninit) gave rise to uranium mines. Another chapter in the city's history is the production of leather gloves, which have been known throughout the world for their quality and variety of designs.
At present, the nearby settlement of Hřebečná is also connected to the town and a total of about 1, 100 inhabitants live here.
