The town of Horní Bříza is located in the Plzeň Region in the Plzeň-sever district and is surrounded by forests and the Bělá River flows through it. The village of Březí is historically documented in the years 1180–1182. About 40 years later, the prince donated it to Ratmír of Skviřín, who inherited it from the Plaská monastery. However, a significant turning point did not occur until the 1980s, when kaolin was discovered here. In 1882, Johann Fitz, a prominent Rokycan businessman and mining expert, began mining kaolin in the Toku Forest. He built a swimming pool and in 1886 also introduced the production of ceramic goods. Currently, about 4, 200 people live in the town.
