The village of Jistebník was established on the terrace of the Oder floodplain in connection with the pond business in the 14th century. Although it went through a difficult period in its historical development, fish farming remained its permanent dominant feature. An independent village located on the plain of the Oder floodplain in the northeastern part of the district near the Přerov - Bohumín railway line. The first written mention is from 1373. Originally, Jistebník belonged to the Bíloveck manor, the lords of Kravař, later during the Pobielohora confiscations it was a special

Several families took turns in possession here - the Pražm family from Bílkov, the Vilém family from Kojkovice, the Vaneč family from Jemnička, the Želeč family from Počenice, the Larisch-Mônich family and, in the 19th century, the Blücher family from Washlstatt. The population became Germanized in the 17th century during the re-Catholicization, the German school

Jistebník and its surroundings are a frequent destination for an increasing number of hikers and cyclists. The newly established cycling route allows for a more detailed exploration of places in the protected landscape area of Poodří, especially among the Istebnica ponds, which extend from Studénka to Ostrava and form wonderful floodplain groves that rightly attract not only visitors,
but they have also inspired several generations of artists.
