The first idea to organize an unconventional competition for themselves and their classmates was born in the minds of the then students of the Brno grammar school. Unusual because it was a competition in a strategic computer game. After organizing the first year, we decided to extend the competition to other high schools in the country and founded the Student Cyber Games civic association. Our goal is to organize school competitions that give students who are not mathematical geniuses or sprint champions the opportunity to excel.

Competition history

We have already had three successful years of the strategic computer game Starcraft. Over the years, we have gained both a larger number of supporters and increased media interest. In 2006, we were sponsored by the then Ministry of Informatics. More about these projects here.

In 2008, we organized another non-traditional competition for high school students, this time in tic-tac-toe. The official name is pIšQworky and it is not by chance that the letters I and Q are highlighted. It is a simple and popular game, but at the same time you need to use logical thinking. The unprecedented scope of the competition was further underlined by the partnership of Masaryk University. More about this project here.

Organization

Currently, the SCG team consists of over forty university and high school students. The main or central team is based in Brno and is made up of students from Masaryk University. Together, we not only take care of the smooth running of ongoing events, but also prepare future events.

Future

Our vision is to become number one in organizing "non-sports" high school competitions throughout the Czech Republic.
