Obec Netin

Netin 11, Netin 594 44
The village of Netín with approx. 350 inhabitants is located 8 km northwest of Velké Meziříčí. The area of the village is 779 ha and until 1990 it is an independent village. Netín belonged to the estates of the provostship of Měřín and its name is probably derived from one of Vznaty from Lomnice and Meziříčí. In 1370 it is written in the form of Vznětín. It is first mentioned in 1156 in a forgery from the end of the 12th century as a village owned by the Benedictine monastery in Třebíč. Extensive surrounding ponds were built by Jan z Meziříčí with the permission of the margrave and the abbot of Třebíč. In 1498, differences arose between Vilém of Pernštejn and Jan of Lomnice about the flooding of the villages with the Netínský pond. There have been more similar disputes in the past.
After the abolition of the provost's office, Netín and Měřín had common authority until 1556, when Měřín belonged to Rudolec and Netín with the purchase rychta and church submissions to Stránecká Zhoř and in 1729 it belonged to the Velké Meziříčí estate. Above the northwestern edge of the village stands the parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, which was originally built in Gothic style in the 13th century (today's polygonal closed presbytery with a cross rib vault) and first mentioned in 1414. In the 15th century the church was fortified and then was a late gothic presbytery was added. Today, the largest pilgrimage takes place on Sunday around the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, which is August 15.
