The picturesque and peaceful village of Spělkov lies in a valley on the Moravian bank of the Svratka, on the border of Bohemia and Moravia, surrounded by fields, forests and hills.

The origins of the village date back to the 13th century, when the upper reaches of the Svratka were colonized by lords from Medlov, ancestors of the lords from Pernštejn. The first written mention comes from 1392.

There are 38 houses in the village, of which only 16 are used by permanent residents, who number up to 50. The rest of the houses, apart from the municipal office building, serve as holiday cottages. There are 11 cottages scattered around the village.

In the middle of the village stands a monument to those who died in the First World War with a bust of T. G. Masaryk. On the western side of Spělkov lies the Evangelical cemetery, built in 1880. Brick and timber buildings have been preserved in the village, which are an example of folk architecture in the Highlands.

Not far from Spělkov lies Buchtův hill with an altitude of 813 m, from which there is a beautiful view. Within the Protected Landscape Area Žďárské vrchy, a yellow tourist sign passes through the village.
