The village of Nová Ves is located in the district of Žďár nad Sázavou, 18 km northeast of Velké Meziříčí in a picturesque landscape with many forests and ponds. The cadastre with an average altitude of 537 m extends over a total area of 415 ha. The settlement appears in written sources for the first time in 1364. The historical landmark here is the bell tower in the village, the cross placed in front of it, the Passion of God by the road to Heřmanov and the monument to fellow citizens who fell in the First World War.

In Nová Ves, a water supply and sewage system were built without connection to a sewage treatment plant. Citizens have at their disposal a newly renovated cultural center, a municipal office, a fire station, a multi-purpose playground, and a general store. The Corps of Volunteer Firefighters is active here.

The cultural life of the peaceful and well-groomed village is presented by events, which include the annual masquerade parade and the subsequent residual dance entertainment with a long-standing tradition. The procession with the statue of the Virgin Mary of Carmel, which was renewed in the 1990s, is also worth mentioning, which starts from the village of Vidonín and leads through the beautiful summer landscape through Radňoves, Nova Ves to Heřmanov, where it ends with a large pilgrimage celebration of her feast day.

The picturesque surrounding nature encourages year-round recreation. Tourists, cyclists and mushroom and forest fruit pickers will find their place here. Fans of winter sports can go on cross-country trips or visit the nearby ski area Fajtův kopec near Velké Meziříčí.
