nam. Miru 1, Frenstat pod Radhostem 744 01
Municipal office Frenštát pod Radhoštěm.

The first mention dates back to around 1300. In 1781, it was granted the status of a city. The city has a historical center, two churches, a number of valuable works of art, an indoor swimming pool, an aqua park, a sports hall, a riding stable, tennis courts, diving boards, etc.
According to Jaroslav Bakala, the city was founded by Jindřich of Huckeswagen, documented as lord of Šostýn since 1293. He is said to have named the city after his father Frank.
It is certain that in the 17th - 19th centuries the town was already an important center of weaving production and that in the years 1734 - 1738, after long disputes with the authorities, the Frenštát breeders became independent and founded the village of Trojanovice.
There are many buildings in Frenštát that are worth the attention of visitors. They are primarily both churches, the parish of St. Martin and the church of St. John the Baptist. Noteworthy is the fruit dryer designed by Dušan Jurkovič in Papratná or the bell tower of J. Štefek in Kopaná. Important monuments include a fountain with a statue of Neptune, which every older resident of Frensta calls Jonáš, a column of the Virgin Mary from 1686, baroque statues of Jan Nepomucký and St. Florian from the years 1719 and 1773. The sculptures of Albín Polášek, a native of Frenštá, The struggle between good and evil, or The man creating his destiny in Horní Street are also beautiful.
However, the history of the city does not only include memorable buildings and natural features and attractions. People live in the city and each of them has left their mark on it. However, there are natives whose importance has exceeded the scope of the city. Let us name, for example, the poet and writer Josef Kalus, the sculptor Albín Polášek, the music composer Jan Nepomuk Polášek, the poet, playwright and columnist František Horečka, or the journalist and politician Závis Kalandra, who became a victim of communist repression. Among athletes, we can name at least Olympic winner Jiří Raška or world champion Jiří Parma.
