The village of Fryčovice was founded by Olomouc bishop Bruno of Schauenburk on wooded land, which it received from Count Frack of Hückewagen around 1255.
The locator was probably named Fritz (Frydrich) - Fritzendorf. The oldest surviving report is from 1267. Some sources state that the name Fryčovice comes from the word fryšování, which indicates the surface mining of ore. Fryčovice belonged to the Hukvaldy estate.
