Bukovec Municipal Office.
Bukovec is the easternmost village in the Czech Republic.
Bukovec was founded by Prince Casimir of Teschen.
The name originated from beech forests.
The village is the starting point of the route to the hill Gírová (840 m) - the highest peak of the Slovak Beskydy in the Czech Republic.
A number of timbered houses, so-called "kurloky", from the 19th century, have been preserved in the village, with wooden semicircular entrance portals, which are typical of the Těšín region.
Today, the well-known recessionary events take place in the village, such as the meeting of home-made tractors Pekoč cup, the championship in hand mowing, the Placov festival or the municipal slaughterhouse.
The village of Bukovec operates the Kempaland sports and relaxation area, which includes a ski lift, summer adrenaline attractions, Nordic walking trails, etc. More at www.kempaland.cz.
