Vělopolí is located in Podbeskydí in the rolling hills between Horní Žukov in the north, Třanovice in the west,
Stříteží in the south and Ropice in the east.
Vělopolka brook flows through the village, a tributary of the Ropičanka River. It is off the main road, local road connects it to road I / 48 in Horní Žukov and road I / 68 in Střítež.
The village has 278 inhabitants on 1.1.2011.
Sights include the farm No. 7 with an adjacent barn and a well from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Quiet and pleasant surroundings of the village with typical Silesian scattered buildings encourages romantic walks, hikes, bike trips or even horseback riding. From the above-mentioned parts of the village there is a beautiful view of the Moravian-Silesian Beskids, the nearby Ostrava agglomeration and the lower villages in the valleys of the Stonávka and Ropičanka rivers, whose tourist attractions and social, cultural and sporting events of the microregion complete the offer of Vělopolí. Other relaxation options include the local Lipka sauna. In the adjacent restaurant you can sit and absorb the magical power of the fire at the open fireplace. The Iceland Vault Apartment and the U Strhany Plumber's Guesthouse are in operation. Currently, houses are under construction.
