The town of Brušperk lies in the middle of the territory between
towns of Ostrava, Frýdek-Místek, Kopřivnice in the area called Lašsko. It is situated on both banks of Ondřejnice.
The historic part of town on the right bank, the younger part-elementary and kindergarten, sports stadium and family houses on the left bank.
The foundation charter of Brušperk is dated December 6, 1269. It was issued by the Olomouc bishop Bruno of Schauenberg. In his coat of arms Brušperk has the figure of St. George, the patron saint of the city in knightly armor on a horse on a red field. In his hand he holds a spear, which kills the symbol of evil, the dragon of green color.
The historical part of the city is formed by the urban conservation area, whose main part is a square with baroque statues of St. Trinity and St. John of Nepomuk, burgher houses, among which excelent houses No. 9, 13, 14 in the lower row of houses, where the arcade has been preserved. The small shops of the ground-floor houses came alive again in the 1990s and are its decoration.
The town is situated at an altitude of 260 m above sea level, the bottom of the river is 235 m above sea level. The town has almost 4000 inhabitants. There is also a rich cultural
and social life. You can visit the library, the Chagall Art Center gallery and the Writer's Monument
Vojtěch Martínek, who is the most prominent cultural person
history of the town.
Sports facilities like football, futsal, football, handball, volleyball, table tennis, tennis and netball in
newly built sports hall. In summer there is a possibility of swimming, fishing on local dams.
Ideal conditions are here for hiking and cycling. On the territory of the city are connected two marked
for its picturesque panorama is Brušperk called Lašský Bethlehem. From the surrounding
of the hills is an impressive view of the complete panorama of the Beskids with the dominating Lysa Mountain in the southeast, with a majestic
Radhošť peak in the south and the beautiful Štramberk Trúba on the southwest horizon.
Brušperk is said to run through the square through the Earth's axis.
