Statutory city of Ostrava - Michálkovice Municipal District.
The population of the city district is about 3120.
Formerly a mining and agricultural village (until 1941), now an independent city district of the Statutory City of Ostrava (since 1991). In particular, mining has long determined the character of the village. Mining of carbon black coal began in 1850 and ended on June 30, 1993.
On the territory of the district there is the National Cultural Monument Důl Michal, registered by UNESCO, the Roman Catholic Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary from 1904, the Church of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church from 1927 and the Chapel of the Orthodox Church from 1866.
