The town of Rychvald is located in the Moravian-Silesian Region in the Karviná district. The first mention of the village dates from 1305, at a time when the Principality of Těšín was founded. Until the 19th century the village had an exclusively agricultural character. Only the expansion of coal mining caused a change in the social composition of the population. Today Rychvald covers an area of 1, 704 hectares and has 7, 500 inhabitants.

Rychvald is interwoven with several streams, which in the past gave the possibility of building ponds. Many of them were established in the land register. The largest Skučák with an area of 25 ha was declared a nature reserve in 1969. There are many species of protected plants, but also waterfowl. Most other ponds are breeding.
