The Nový Šaldorf cellar complex, within sight of the historic city of Znojmo, is a destination that you should not miss when wandering for wine, but also as ordinary tourists or cyclists.
Blue cellars is a wine-growing concept in the Znojmo region.
The operation of the winery is not one of those that were established after 1989, on the contrary, it boasts a tradition dating back to 1965. The proven reputation and quality of the wines on offer also correspond to this. You will find them among the winners of wine competitions and many of them are among the wines of the original certification (VOC). The wine is produced using proven state-of-the-art technologies and is stored in both tanks and barrels. What is quite extraordinary, however, are the large cellar spaces of a total of 4 cellars, 3 of which are interconnected, as an underground labyrinth, including the archive cellar. Completely unique is one of the cellar galleries, which is completely unique and exceptional in its height and unprecedented Gothic profile. Without exaggeration, we can talk about the underground cathedral. The cellar capacity also corresponds to variously large spaces for visitors and guests of the winery (a total of 245 seats). It is possible to order tours of the cellar, as well as cathering or refreshments according to the order, and very popular guided tastings. Reproduced music is available in all areas, but in addition, there is also live music on offer, or own music production, in agreement with the owner.
For those who want to spend hospitality with accommodation, there is a guest house with 13 double rooms above ground. Accommodation prices are very favorable. Directly opposite the winery is a parking lot with sufficient capacity.
The area of the Blue Cellars with large vineyards in the vicinity is adjacent to the magical Podyjí National Park with a surprisingly 100 meters deep canyon of the river Dyje. From the pension is within reach of a large number of historical monuments, both historical Znojmo and its surroundings, but also the nearby Lower Austrian region, around the historic Retz. By car, the person can easily reach the famous outlet shopping center Freeport and Excalibur Hatě, or the Vranov dam and castles and chateaux on the Dyje.
